The Haunting

She was as pure as the driven snow
As she entered the room
They could feel her glow
He was as dark as the blackest night
As sat there smirking
Intensity flaming the candlelight
Laughter and echoes of false pretense
Filling my lungs
It just didn't make sense
So many people indulging in nothing
Without depth or passion
She cannot feel something
A trail of fire blazing the way
Completely entrancing her
With his come hither gaze
She swiftly danced over to where he sat
Bridges burning like wildfires behind her
Until she lost her place on the map
They danced wildly without any care
Evaporating the crowd into thin air
Entangled and entwined seeing noone else
Fear began to creep in
As she realized all the books she no longer desired to read
Sitting there on the shelf
She tried to run back through the looking glass
But could not see herself
It was in this moment he knew he had won
He yelled checkmate
And the damage was done
She was a pawn
In a game she loved to play
Paralyzed and blinded
By the devil's desires
A new dimension had taken her higher
But when the lights came on at the end of the night
Everyone had gone home
And the room was on fire
She was left with raw truth
As she collapsed on the floor
