Believing It Will All Work Out
Believing that something will all work out when the chips are down is a skill that some people seem to have inherently.
It is not a skill that I possess in any great quantity. It’s a skill that I’m working on because I can tend to be a bit of a pessimist.
However, I know someone who possesses this skill in spades. He has that ability to put his head down when things are not going well and just push through it. If you ask him how he’s doing, he will tell you that things are tough, but he knows that it will turn around at some point.
It’s an attitude that I greatly admire because I know how easy it is to get down on yourself in tough times. In fact, I would suggest that our typical human response to things not going well is to get down and depressed. It takes skill to be able to have a positive attitude when all signs point to tough times.
One way that I’ve been working on getting better at this is by focusing on all my prior wins and accomplishments. It reminds me of how many times things HAVE gone well and how many times things HAVE worked out instead of focusing on failure.
What about you? Do you have the inherent skill of always seeing the sunny side of life? Or do you get stuck in the cycle of getting down when times are tough?
