Super Duplex Flanges
A flange is a rib that connects pipes, valves, and other plumbing equipment to form a plumbing system. A flange is a piece of metal that connects one object to another, such as the end of a pipe. The width of a standard flange is 24 to 27 millimeters (mm). Super Duplex is another name for Zeron 100. Stainless steel has a 50/50 microstructure of austenite and ferrite, making it stronger than ferritic and austenitic steel. The main difference is that the Super duplex contains more Molybdenum and Chromium, which gives it better corrosion resistance.
The alloy has a high strength-to-weight ratio and high corrosion resistance. It is typically made up of 25% chromium, 7% nickel, and 3.6 percent molybdenum, with copper and tungsten thrown in for good measure. Due to the ferritic structure and alloy additives such as nitrogen, yield strengths are twice that of 300 series stainless steel sheets. It must have a minimum elongation of 25% at room temperature, and ultimate tensile strength of 109,000 psi [751 MPa], a 0.2 percent offset yield strength of 80,000 psi [552 MPa], and a 0.2 percent offset yield strength of 80,000 psi [552 MPa]. The alloy contains roughly 40-50 percent ferrite during the annealed stage.
Benefits of Super Duplex Flanges
Zeron 100 Flanges are made from the best materials and have excellent workability, formability, and welding properties. The mechanical and physical properties of super duplex flanges are exceptional. These flanges are extremely useful in hostile environments. All types of corrosion, including crevice corrosion, stress cracking corrosion, pitting corrosion, erosion-corrosive corrosion, and fatigue corrosion, are resistant to these flanges.
One of the most notable advantages of super duplex stainless steel is its corrosion resistance. It can also withstand temperatures as high as 150°F without corroding or splitting.
Longevity of high quality. It has a high resistance to pitting and corrosion in cracks.
Stress corrosion cracking, corrosion fatigue, and erosion resistance are all excellent. Excellent resistance to stress-corrosion cracking caused by chloride. Thermal conductivity is extremely high in this material.
Sulfide stress corrosion resistance is good. It has a lower thermal expansion than austenitic steel and higher heat conductivity. Workability and weldability are also important factors to consider. A significant amount of energy is absorbed.
Application of Super Duplex Flanges
Some of the industries that use Zeron 100 flanges include offshore oil drilling, gas processing, food processing, chemical processing, pharmaceutical industry, pharmaceutical equipment, chemical equipment, seawater equipment, heat exchanger, petrochemical industry, power generation plant thermal plant, condenser, specialty chemical industry, paper industry, and pulp industry. Hoses for handling chloride-containing liquids in FGD systems for the energy industry also use super duplex flanges. Public utilities, pipe engineering, valves, shafts, military applications, aerospace, and spacecraft are just a few of the applications for these flanges.
