Regular Sticker Paper
Paper brands used: Silhouette
Printable vinyl, full-sized label sheet
To deeply understand the types of sticker paper, let’s begin with regular sticker paper first. Regular stickers come with a matte finish. The papers are just normal (white sticker paper) that are standard for stickers. Cricut Explore was used, and the dial was moved to one notch past the vinyl. Three materials, silhouette, Cricut printable vinyl, and full-sized label sheet, all were similar as a result of printing and cutting. These materials are cut with a kiss cut through the top sheet, not the backing paper.
Glossy Sticker Paper
Paper brands used: Royal elements, Aiva
In this paper, the machines can’t see the registration marks because of the material’s glare. One trick you can apply to cut these materials is to add matte tape to the black box around the stickers. Once done, it will become easy to cut these materials. Royal elements and Aiva cut perfectly fine on the vinyl setting by applying more pressure. Please note these materials are water-resistant and can fade away in the sun. Make sure to place them in an appropriate place.
Laminate Sticker Paper
Paper brands used: Orajet version and the StartCraft version
A laminate over the top will give UV resistance. Cut the laminate to fit inside the black box and apply it to that area before cutting. Use a scraper to ensure the laminate has stuck properly with no bubbles around. The project version took two passes, while the starcraft version took three keys. The StartCraft version is thick once laminate is added to the top.
Kraft Sticker Paper
Paper brand USD: Craft Tiff and online labels
This paper is excellent, especially for labels purposes. Those who love things a little more rustic can find this paper awful. Please note this will not work on a Cricut explore. Explore Machine actually prints and then cuts on white or very light paper. If you get to cut this paper on the explorer, you will get an error as an output. Use a maker instead. This will cut colored paper with Print and then cut as well as white.
Waterproof Sticker Paper
Let’s test various stickers and find out which are water-resistant. To try stickers for waterproofing, wait at least 24 hours before the stickers get wet. Collect stickers, dunk them in water, and then rub off the ink. All stickers failed, but Royal Elements, Aiva, and Oraject printable vinyl, with oraguard laminate, and starcraft printable vinyl with starcraft UV laminate stand out. In short, these stickers passed the waterproof test.
Sticker Papers That Didn’t Print Well
Based on the test, many stickers didn’t get printed accurately. They are neato labels, super glossy, and printable translucent sticker paper.
