How to Download & Install the Design Space Software?
Before the process begins, ensure the Cricut machine is turned on and 10-15 feet away from your PC.
- First, open a web browser and go to the official website of Cricut.
- Then, tap the “Download” button to save the software to your PC.
- When a file is downloading, open it directly from the bottom of the browser.
- After that, you need to tap on it once downloaded.
- A new screen will open on your PC when the installation is done.
- Before you can start creating projects with the machine, connect it to your PC.
How to Connect Cricut to Computer (Explore or Maker)?
If you get a screen showing “Connect to computer via Bluetooth” during setup for the Cricut Explore or Maker, the Design Space software has detected the AMD Ryzen chip on your PC. There is a problem with some Windows AMD Ryzen chips causing problems with a USB connection. For these PCs, you can use Bluetooth for the optimal experience.
Note: If you connect a Cricut Explore or Maker to your Windows PC with an AMD Ryzen chip, we suggest using Bluetooth when using the Design Space software. If you still want a USB connection, use the j5create 7-Port USB 3.0 Hub with your PC.
For Windows
- Make sure the Cricut Explore or Maker is on and within 10 to 15 feet of your PC.
- Most PCs are Bluetooth-compatible. However, to decide if your PC is Bluetooth compatible, right-tap the Start menu button and click on the Device Manager tab.
- If the Bluetooth option is listed, your PC is Bluetooth-compatible.
- If not, you’ll need to buy a Bluetooth dongle to connect your PC.
- After that, close the Device Manager tab.
- Next, tap on the Start button and then open the Settings tab.
- From the next screen, select the Devices option.
- Now, make sure Bluetooth is turned on.
- Then, tap on Add Bluetooth or other device.
- Slide the toggle next to the Bluetooth and wait for your PC to find the machine.
- After that, select the machine name from the given list.
- Enter a PIN code 0000, then hit the Connect button.
- The Cricut Explore or Maker is connected to your Windows PC.
For Mac
- Make sure the Cricut Maker or Explore is on and within 10 to 15 feet of your PC.
- Then, click the Apple icon and select the System Preferences option.
- After that, search for the Bluetooth option.
- Now, open the Bluetooth tab. If Bluetooth is turned off, turn it on.
- Select the name of your adapter/Bluetooth module from the given list.
- Next, you have to click on the Pair button.
- Enter the PIN code 0000 and then hit the Pair button.
- The Cricut Explore or Maker has successfully connected to your Mac.
Note: Mac will not always display “connected” unless the software communicates with the cutting machine during the cut process.
