Before You Start Setting Up Your Linksys Router
Before diving into the setup, make sure you've got everything you need:
- A computer or laptop with the latest software version and an up-to-date browser installed.
- A working internet connection (otherwise, you might run into issues accessing the router’s settings).
- Two Ethernet cables: one to connect your router to the modem and the other to connect your computer to the router (if your computer doesn’t have WiFi).

How to Set Up Your Linksys Router Using myrouter.local
- Power down your modem to start the process.
- Make sure your router is in its default factory mode. If it’s not, reset it by holding the RESET button for at least 15 seconds.
- Connect the router’s Internet port to the LAN port on your modem.
- Open a web browser and type myrouter.local or 192.168.1.1 in the URL field.
- Accept the Terms & Conditions on the screen and click Next.
- Enter the router’s default admin password when prompted.
- Go to Configuration > WiFi > Basic Wireless Settings.
- Set a SSID and password for both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency bands.
