Brief synopsis of the Academic IELTS:
It has four modules just like the GT test which are Speaking, Reading, Writing and Listening. These modules assess the usage of English to express and comprehend the ideas, views and opinions. The exam for Listening, Reading & Writing happens on one day and Speaking happens three to four days ahead or after the LRW test. Speaking:
It is a one to one interview with the examiner which is just like a personal interview which takes only 11-15 minutes. The questions are asked in three parts here; Introduction, Cue-card & Follow-ups. In Introduction you are asked questions related to you like about your family, hobbies, likes, dislikes, views etc. and you need to give short answers in 2-3 lines here. In the Cue-card section you are given a topic and one minute to prepare a content on that which then you have to deliver, you are expected to speak for approximately 2 minutes. Post that, there are questions related to the Cue-card topic in the Follow-ups section which you must answer in 4-6 lines.
Writing:
This is a one hour long test where you are given two tasks which you need to answer in the given time. Task 1 for Academic students is Report Writing where you are given some data or charts and you need to write report on that for minimum of 150 words. The task 2 is same for Academic and GT which is an essay of minimum 250 words on general topics in IELTS coaching centre chandigarh
Listening:
It is considered as the most scoring modules as anyone who can listen actively could get very high bands. Here you are made to listen to a recording of around 30 minutes and you are supposed to find the answers to the 40 questions given in the test paper from that recording. Once the recording is over you are given 10 minutes to transfer the answers on the answer sheet.
Reading:
Reading is the comprehension test where you get three long passages which have a total of 40 questions that you need to solve in 1 hour. There is no extra time given here to transfer the answers to the answer sheet, therefore you are supposed to write the answers simultaneously.
