The world turned slowly
And then it paused
Where your feet firmly planted
On the forest floors.
Their fingertips don’t touch,
But outwards they reach
Like the steady relentless welcome
To the tide from the beach.
‘Whatever are you doing here?’
Asks the faintest of voices,
For as peaceful as this clearing is,
Your head is full of noises.
You think the answers to your problems
Will hang from the trees
Like fresh white bedding
Seductively swaying in the breeze.
But these trees tower tall,
You cannot see the beautiful sky,
People spend their lives trying to live
But you, you’d rather die.
You would instead choose to defy
This life and all that could be
To take a chance on the silence
And supposedly set your mind free.
No one ever told you life would be this hard,
You didn’t ask to be here
But yet, here you are.
Living. Surviving. Fighting through the fear.
I couldn’t ask anything more
Than for you to want to live your life,
There’s too much beauty in your soul
For you to not put up a fight.
You have too much to live for
For you to not choose life.
