Ever noticed how much Facebook (and ultimately, our 'smart' phones) has consumed our lives?
Ever noticed how much time we spend staring at Facebook (and ultimately, our 'smart' phones) on an hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, yearly basis?
Ever noticed when we stare down into our 'smart' phone, our brains check out like putty, or pudding?
Ever noticed when we are on Facebook, all we do is scroll, read, like, repost, scroll, read, like, repost?
Ever noticed how easily disturbingly obsessed we could get over a person's profile/posts?
Ever noticed Facebook has become a wasteland of repetitive meme's?
Ever noticed half of the meme's you scroll, read, like, and repost have more spelling/grammar errors than a Trump tweet?
Ever noticed how much we share too much information on Facebook?
Ever noticed how much we pour our heart and soul into a post only for the sheer satisfaction that the right person can scroll, read, like (or, if lucky, heart)?
Ever noticed that less is more?
Ever noticed that we often post/tweet out of impulse without evaluating the content (or proofread the spelling, i.e. our President)?
Ever noticed how many relationships/friendships are ruined because of Facebook?
Ever noticed how many people lose their jobs as a result of a tweet/post/picture/comment made (excluding our President)?
Ever noticed when passing a person driving, usually 10 to 20 miles under the speed limit, they are staring down at a 'smart' phone WHILE DRIVING?
Ever noticed a person walking while staring down into a 'smart' phone swerves like they are drunk until they walk into a wall, or a pole, or another person?
Ever noticed how a person's private conversation on the 'smart' phone is broadcast when person is having a private conversation on their 'smart' phone loudly, in public?
Ever noticed while sitting in a breakroom, looking around to see everyone in the breakroom is staring down into their 'smart' phone?
Ever noticed a couple (young and old alike) that stare into their 'smart' phones more often while they are together than they do into each other's eyes?
Ever noticed how many young parents' hands a 'smart' phone to young kids to keep young kids occupied?
Ever noticed parents are too busy on their 'smart' phones that they miss every cute little thing their kids accomplish?
Ever noticed how many families/friends/loved ones that eat out, spends more time on their 'smart' phones, and less time interacting with each other, talking to each other, enjoying each other's company?
Ever noticed how much 'smart' phones have dumbed us down to the sleep walking dead?
Ever noticed how Facebook/'smart' phones has indeed connected us to long lost cousins (hi Julie), teachers we haven't heard from in decades (hi Ms. Faricy), and people from all over the world – while it had disconnected us from family/friends nearby?
Ever noticed what life was like before 'smart' phones?
I noticed these things after deactivating my Facebook for a while and deleting selective apps off my phone.
Once I woke up from the slumber that was my 'smart' phone – like a slave that is freed from Allegory of the Cave, I opened my eyes to the wonders of the world around me.
What I saw was a dystopia world in the making Arthur C. Clarke/George Orwell warned us about in the last century.
I noticed the things I was doing with my Facebook/'smart' phone, my co-workers/friends were/are/is doing the exact same thing.
Don't believe me?
Deactivate your Facebook, get rid of the apps off your phone for a while (you can live without sharing a Snap with cute bunny ears for a day), and look around you.
Noticing the same things I had noticed?
