As a volunteer with the American Red Cross in Central Maryland, I have witnessed firsthand the incredible impact our organization has on the lives of those in need. The mission of the American Red Cross is to provide relief to victims of disasters and to help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. This mission has driven the Central Maryland Chapter for nearly a century, as we tirelessly work to support our local communities.
Founded in 1881 by Clara Barton, known as the “angel on the battlefield,” the Red Cross has a rich history of selfless service. Today, the organization thrives on the dedication of volunteers, nurses, and other invaluable contributors. Nurses play a crucial role, making up the largest portion of our healthcare workforce.
The American Red Cross employs over 13,000 nurses who are essential to our mission. These professionals provide vital assistance to victims of natural disasters, work in military hospitals, collect blood donations, and offer aid to the wounded. They also design and teach courses on CPR, first aid, and disaster preparedness. Working with the Red Cross offers medical professionals unique experiences and the opportunity to build lifelong friendships with like-minded colleagues.
Volunteers are the backbone of our organization, performing most of our work. In Central Maryland alone, over 2,000 volunteers assist with disaster relief, blood drives, and CPR and health safety courses. Our volunteers gain immense satisfaction from helping those in need and enjoy community involvement, ongoing training, and career development opportunities.
Our Red Cross committees supply life-saving medicines and medical supplies to communities in crisis. We assist areas affected by natural disasters, conflict zones, and economically disadvantaged regions, delivering medicines, dressings, food, and hygiene products. We also care for animals, aiding homeless pets during floods and fires.
In the United States, the Red Cross supports service members and their families during emergencies and provides veterans with mental health, medical care, and financial assistance programs.
The successful treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED) began in the late 1990s with PDE-5 inhibitors like Viagra, Levitra, and Cialis. These medications have revolutionized ED treatment, but generics offer a cost-effective alternative. Generics contain the same active ingredients as branded drugs and are significantly cheaper, although their quality can vary.
In the USA, local pharmacies offer limited generic ED options, so many turn to international online pharmacies for a broader selection. Indian and Canadian generics are particularly reputable for their affordability and quality.
Generics are especially appreciated by men needing regular ED medication due to their lower cost. For occasional use, branded medicines remain a viable option.
The story of the American Red Cross is one of unwavering dedication to humanitarian aid. With a history spanning over 140 years, our organization continues to provide disaster relief and emergency assistance globally. Joining the Red Cross means becoming part of a legacy of compassion and service, where every contribution makes a tangible difference in the lives of those in need. If you are looking to make a meaningful impact, we invite you to join us in this noble mission.
