VerifyWho offers easy, inexpensive access to public record information. The law does not regulate how you can use the information you get from VerifyWho.
Here are some examples of how you can use data from public records that VerifyWho has provided.
Use of VerifyWho information through methods marked "Don’t" below is against our Terms and Conditions and could lead to criminal charges. This is something we take seriously. We reserve the right not to allow users to access their accounts and/or report violators to the appropriate law enforcement authorities.

- Find out who is new to you
Learn more about the new community if you recently moved or have just met new neighbors.
- Find old family and friends
VerifyWho loves hearing about how people use public records to make connections with others, whether they're distant relatives, long-lost loved ones, or family members from their former neighborhoods.
- Verify the authenticity and legitimacy of online sellers and buyers
Before you place a bid, make sure you are 100% certain that the bidder listed on the auction site is who they claim to be.
- Check out potential roommates
You should get to know your neighbors before you sign the lease.
Do you have any idea who the mysterious caller is calling from? Run a reverse phone search.
- Locate the current address of someone
It is time to update your address book. You must ensure that all invitations and greeting cards reach the right person.
CONS
- Screening for employment
VerifyWho is not available to employers for background checks of applicants or employees. VerifyWho cannot determine whether a candidate is suitable for reassignment or employment, promotion, retention, or other purposes.
- Domestic employees are being hired
This includes, but is not limited to domestic workers. Employers must follow the same procedure for background checks.
- You might be interested in adopting a pet-owner, or parent?
You are not permitted to use our services to evaluate someone for adoption, service animals, human beings, or any other object you are thinking of entrusting to someone else's care or custodianship.
- Check educational qualifications
This includes, but is not limited to, the requirements of the individual for consideration for a scholarship or educational program.
- Volunteering for an organization or charity
It is important to determine if a person is eligible to participate in, be accepted for, or be a beneficiary or recipient (or any other way to receive) any grant, non-profit program, or event.
- Contact, spy on or stalk people against their will
Take care when using VerifyWho and respect individuals' privacy rights. It is your responsibility not to contact them by VerifyWho if they do not wish.
- It is possible to steal an identity
This is a serious offense that can lead to severe consequences. Don't do it!
- Tenant Screening
This covers commercial and residential spaces, but not residential. You must use the Consumer Reporting Agency for background checks on potential tenants.
- Credit, insurance and mortgages
If you use VerifyWho in order to determine eligibility of a consumer, assess credit risk obligations, or determine eligibility to issue credit or insurance, you could be charged with an offense.
- Individual customers initiate business transactions
To determine if a customer continues to meet the account conditions, we examine their personal accounts.
