How is a copper bonded earthing rod manufactured?
The COPPER BONDED EARTHING ROD is a product of an accurate and regulated process that was specifically developed to give high conductivity, mechanical strength, and long-term resistance to corrosion. The process starts with a core of high-tensile, low-carbon steel, which not only gives the rod good strength but also makes it possible for the rod to be driven very deep into the earth without getting bent or broken.
To make the interior steel ready for the next process, it is put under extensive cleaning and surface preparation. Next, a layer of high-purity copper is applied to the steel using either molecular bonding or electrolytic cladding method. During this process, copper thoroughly penetrates into the steel and becomes permanently linked to it at the atomic level, which guarantees uniformity and prevents the copper layer from cracking, peeling, or coming off during installation or even service life. This interlocking is much better than simply electroplating as it assures very good consistency in electric performance.
After this, the rods are stretched to smaller diameters and lengths and end threads or chamfers are made to simplify the coupling and installation process. Each COPPER BONDED EARTHING ROD is subjected to very strict quality control with respect to copper thickness, adhesion strength, and electrical conductivity.
