HABITS

Willpower. Oh, that elusive yet single-mined art of self-discipline. To someone who had always impulsively sought gratification, the concept of delaying indulgence was as foreign as many of the foods I spontaneously enjoyed gobbling. So, when a friend first described to me the magical benefits of Intermittent Fasting, I nearly choked on my snack.
To get me on-board, or at least educate me about Intermittent Fasting so I could make an informed decision if this lifestyle approach was right for me, the friend suggested I watch a video entitled, “Eat, Fast and Live Longer”, Dr. Mike Mosley’s BBC documentary about the benefits of periodically starving oneself. Imagine my surprise when, after the presentation, I was possessed with the certainty that this was a lifestyle I absolutely must embrace.
It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. My waistline, mental and general health have all weighed in positively. And the best part was discovering that somewhere within my gluttonous being there existed a tiny seed of willpower that blossomed each time I practiced the self-discipline necessary to make it through to the next meal.
