Straight-Up

Once would have done it, but you told me twice.

That's really okay, I needed the truth;

If we weren't such good friends, I'd call you uncouth.

You told me straight-up with no sugar coating;

And, when you were right, did not stoop to gloating.

Sometimes you're blunt, but that's what friends do;

You know that I'll listen, and I'm grateful for you.

No other person has quite the same way

Of setting me straight, so I wanted to say--

Thanks for "the chat."  Please know you've been heard;

And that was both times, I won't need a third.
