As an adult, friendships can sometimes be difficult. As we get older we often become more selective of who we choose to share our time with.

As people have come and gone, I've been most comfortable with people who have the capacity to be kind, not just act nice. My best friends are the people who challenge and encourage me and count on the same in return. There are frequently things we don't agree on, but we respect each other's right to an opinion. These girls aren't out to win a popularity contest, instead determining their own value. Without fail, I know that my secrets are safe, and when push comes to shove these friends are promptly in my corner, ready to take on the challenge when I am too tired to do it myself.

I've heard it said that to be my best I should surround myself with greatness and I am surrounded by amazing people. I am a lucky girl.
