Fears & Phobias

Why do you think that people spend so much time worrying about things that will never come to pass?

0/240

Im 1 of these people, & i think part of it stems from putting myself in other peoples shoes. For ex, if i see something bad happen 2 someone in a movie my 1st thought is what if that happened to me & i dwell on that turning it into anxiety

We are constantly bombarded by negativity in the media. Society gives more energy to the crisis than to the positive. It is engrained in our minds and over a period of time, we become fearful.

Some of it is hard-wired into us, some of it is learned. Fear itself is not necessarily a bad thing, but if it starts to take over one's life, then it's time to be concerned.

Some people just have the worry gene in them and its so sad! when they dont have something to worry about they will make something up!

I think fear/worry comes from a feeling of 'no control', because you don't know what's coming and you try and plan for every possible scenario. But it's funny when the real crisis happens, we find a way to deal with it. Live in the moment.

I've heard fear defined as "the anticipation of pain." We anticipate things and then ruminate about them when we don't even know if what we fear will actually happen! We need to learn to focus on here and now and not on our crazy thoughts!

Exposure to the media specifically the 24 hour news businesses definitely plays a role.

Because media and the news make us worry. Fear mongering can put us in a depressed state and in a state of worry and anxiety. We have to change our subconscious minds to not let these fears upset us so much.

Well said. How did you 2 get so smart? Lol. 😁

I think you hit the nail square on the head Jb. Stop and smell the roses and show gratitude for what you have and where you are RIGHT NOW and the future will seem much less daunting.

Maybe its related to the way we educate people, to constantly aspire and not enjoy whats around us.

In a word...Ego. The Ego loves drama, mostly imagined, so it doesn't want you at peace living in the moment.
