Large Canadian ice sheets formerly pushed into Ohio, leaving behind enormous grooves in the limestone bedrock of Kelleys Island that provide insight into the area's natural past. The 677 acres of rocky, forested island off the coast of Ohio provide abundant swimming, sunbathing, and fishing options beyond the striking glacial striations. Either bring your own tent or rent a house or yurt and set up camp along the coast. You may go straight out into Lake Erie for some waterborne sightseeing via kayak and boat launching. Natural preserves dot the island, providing cover for northern bog violets, painted turtles, and migratory songbirds under geometry dash an abundance of red cedar trees.
Ontario's Long Point, Port Rowan
Long Point is the fourth-oldest provincial park in Ontario, having been established in 1921. It is a sand and forest point that juts into Lake Erie, spanning over 25 miles. The seas off the sandy beach are as soothing as if you were taking a warm bath. Cast a line in one of Ontario's best bass fisheries and join the boats that bob in the azure water. Take a nap on the supple shoreline and see the passing of around 80 nesting and over 300 migratory birds in the region.
Port Burwell, located on Lake Erie's northern coast, is an ideal location for birding, tanning, and camping. More than 85 different kinds of migrating birds have been recorded to pass through, making this place a birder's paradise. In the spring and autumn, coastline migrations of eagles, monarch butterflies, blue jays, and dragonflies are also seen. You should go directly to the 1.5 kilometers of sandy beach that are surrounded by shallow, warm water. When you're feeling peckish, get some poutine and a rum-raisin cone from Simply Scoops, swim in the lake, and take a snooze under a striped umbrella.
State Park William C. Sterling, Monroe, Michigan
In the Great Lakes State, Lake Michigan is often associated with summertime, but residents of Michigan may visit the less well-known William C. Sterling State Park for a different beach experience. This mile-long stretch of white sand is surrounded by three breathtaking lagoons and is the only park in Michigan located on Lake Erie. Enjoy a traditional summer evening by camping on the lakeside, exploring the seven miles of hiking trails, or fishing the walleye-rich waters. After that, visit Public House for house-fried chips, pan-seared wild pacific salmon, and french onion grilled cheeses.
This peninsula extends into glistening, blue-green sea that is teeming with swimmers, yachts, and anglers. Scuba divers make use of Pennsylvania's one coastline under the surface of the ocean. Presque Isle State Park, a 3,200-acre bend of golden sand, draws visitors in need of a "seaside" day in the sun with its nine stunning beaches. Take a stroll along the 11 miles of trails to stretch your legs, stop at Gull Point to take photographs of the migratory and breeding birds, or hit the waves at Beach One, Beach 10, and the area surrounding North Pier.
