Taoism is a far higher analysis of human consciousness finding ways and means to help humanity to come back home.
What do Taoists really believe?
Nothing that is not a belief, but an experience, a hypothesis to be proven by personal experience. They believe in becoming one with nature and allowing nature to take its course. Taosits try to find their appropriate place in nature and strife to be who they really are.
Do Taoists believe in any form of a higher being, be it a God or a Deity? No.
Do they have any philosophy? No.
Do they have any theology? No.
Do they believe in suicide? No.
Do they have a code of honor? No.
Do they believe in immortality? No.
Which martial art is closely related to Taoism? Tai Chi.
Where do they stand on Fate & Destiny as opposed to Coincidence? On the law of synchronicity.
Do they think less of those who do not share in their ideals and philosophy? No.
Do they view Christian, Jews and Muslims any less for believing in God? Yes.
Do they follow any specific law or code? No.
What are their views on morals and ethics? Taoism is amoralistic; it doesn’t bother about morality and immorality. It has no Ten Commandments, it does not give you any orders, it does not talk in terms of ought. It says that as you are, you are welcome; as you are, you are good, beautiful, true. The problem is not that others reject you, the problem is that you reject yourself. And if you reject yourself, you are in a vicious circle. Then you will try to improve, and nothing can be improved because you are perfect. Then you will be in misery, because it is impossible to improve you.
What sort of government do most of them believe in? They do not believe in a government.
Are they at all political? No.
What are their views on death? Taoism has given a totally different dimension, the whole eternity. You are not confined into seventy years; birth and death are simply episodes in your eternity. Many times you have been born and many times you have died; still, the eternal principle of life continues.
Do they have funerals for those who have passed on? Yes.
How do they view dead bodies, are they revered or viewed upon in a sacred, or do they view the body as nothing more than an empty shell? Nothing more than an empty shell.
How do they typically dispose of their dead? As you dispose an empty shell.
How do Taoists handle conflict? Man is never contented – cannot be – because he is many. If you become one, contentment follows of its own accord. If you are many, discontent is natural. If you are many, you live in constant conflict. If you are one, conflict disappears; you have come home. This is what Taoists call crystallization, and the method to achieve it is to make the light move in a circle so your yin and yang are no longer separate.
Are they violent or peaceful? Peaceful.
How do they react when someone has wronged them in some way? They laugh about it and they accept it, they yield and do not resist.
If violence is a last resort, what are other steps in diplomacy that Taoists usually follow? They do not fight because of that they cannot lose.
What types of music, food and fashion do most enjoy? They are individuals.
What sort of culture do Taoists follow? No culture.
Are Taoists more reclusive or do they prefer the company of friends? Both at the same time.
What are their views on evil entities and those who are naturally prone to doing evil? Nature is good, nobody is naturally prone to doing evil. They are beyond polarity, so they do not believe in good and evil. True Taoism transcends every polarity. To be neither good nor bad is better than to be just good.
Do they believe in God or the Devil? No.
Is “Live and let live” a part of their philosophy? Yes.
Do they incorporate the teaching “Believe what is, not what you think” in their philosophy? No. See and understand what is by not thinking about it.
What is the Taoist stance on Military Conquest? Utterly wrong.
How do they measure self worth? Low, because they want to be free of the self.
Do they meditate, and if so, on what specifically? Yes, on breath and on the Hara, but understanding is much more important than meditation.
Do they believe in enlightenment? No.
What is their opinion of enlightenment? It is the natural flowering of a natural life.
Do they believe in auras? No, unless they see it.
What is the Taoist view on sexual relations? Love has to be free, sexuality has to be free.
Do they believe in marriage? No.
What is their view on chastity? It is unnatural, so let it be.
Do Taoists believe in charity or performing good deeds? No.
How do Taoists explain and accept natural phenomena? They just accept nature trying to understand it as profound as possible.
From where do Taoists draw their motivations and inspirations? From nature, from Tao.
How does Taoism relate to Zen Buddhism and Confucianism? They are opposite to Confucianism, and Zen Buddhism is Buddhism which tried to synthesize Buddhism with Taoism.
What is their stance on technological advancements? They are for nature, against technology.
