Diet & Nutrition

Why are humans worldwide getting fat? Who is to blame?

0/240

No one is to blame - our diets and exercises need to evolve with our changing lifestyles. We also need easy to understand scientific unbiased literature instead of fad diets, misinformation and 'hot yoga'

Society. Working a 9 to 5 job is not natural sitting down all day long. We are humans not robots.

its the internet, social media and cell phones that have made the average person less active than in the past. We need to get out there and enjoy nature and all that the world has for us. In social media, etc need to occur in moderation

Yes absolutely, genetic factors may play a role. I do believe that in many instances though it is poor lifestyle and diet choices that are the cause of the obesity epidemic. An addiction to food is no different than any other addiction.

Often genetic factors play a role in obesity. This is beyond an individual's control. Also, stress, poverty, trauma, etc. are factors that can exacerbate obesity as well.

The science is there. Excess carbohydrates in the diet is making the world fat. Excess caloric intake and lack of exercise also plays a role in the obesity epidemic!

Well certainly people that are following ketogenic (low carbohydrate, high fat) diets are achieving great results in the battle of the bulge.

This is my opinion and I know there are exceptions to this, but I believe it is low fat, as well as wheat. Not to mention over consumption of food, the lack of exercise and stress hormones from our stressful, unbalanaced lives.

I think the media is to blame for some of it, along with people not being able to think for themselves. The selling of fad diets, along with the low fat craze of the 1980s. Why is junk food so cheap and healthy stuff so much more costly?

Keeping it simple would say excessive eating and lack of physical activity are too blame.

Ultimately we each decide what we put in our mouths and how active we are, but governments could do more to motivate the food industry to focus more on consumers health than their own profits

Possibly once he gets a little older he will realize the importance of exercise. Either that or when he discovers the opposite sex. ;) My son lives in the gym and at his age appreciates the attention he gets from being in shape.

We wish our son was more active and hope that one day he will realize how important it is. Dean and I exercise daily and even though our son sees this he is choosing at this time to not exercise very much. Occasional dog walking!

We all make choices daily on how we choose to live! As parents it is up to us to establish healthy eating and exercise as part of our kids lifestyles. Healthy food and exercise is the key!

As individual we control what we eat, but government has a responsibility to hold the food industry to account for putting profit ahead of our health

Crazy rushed lifestyles. We eat far too much of the wrong foods for convenience sake. Results in obesity rates skyrocketing.

We eat the wrong foods , fast food , processed , and foods containing hormones . Also many of us don’t keep active enough.
