Unfortunately, in an effort to protect them physically, parents harm them emotionally. Kids today have no idea whatsoever how to deal with adversity anymore. Someone had always done it for them, at home, In school. Kids can't fail anymore.

It's ironic that many parents want to protect their kids..keep them at home where it safe but then let them sit and play video games that are full of violence, killing, and disrespect for authority. How then, do kids view reality?

I believe that media has given the illusion that there is more danger now. I think there are just as many dangers as there was 25 years ago, the only difference is we have access to the whole world in one click.

I think we have gone too far and kids are too protected. However, when you are a parent and it's your kids, it's hard not to worry more than we did in the past. There appears to be more danger today but I don't know if there really is!

i think there was danger when I was a kid - there are just different dangers now. We hear so much more of it now than years ago because of the media and internet etc.

I guess it all depends where you live. Some countries don't really have a lot of gun laws and you see young kids walking around with guns. Its unfortunate that kids cant just be innocent and be free without having to worry .

On 3 different visits to the park by aggressive homeless people. Now his parents will no longer allow him to go.to this park. Do you blame them?!!!

In our community paper this week an 11 year old boy wrote a letter to the editor saying that he would just like to be able to. enjoy going to the skate park and enjoy being a kid without fear. Unfortunately, he has been approached (con't)

I think teaching our children to respect danger but insist that they find out things for themselves, is far more educational than sheltering them from every "what if" scenario. Life is inherently dangerous but u have to "live" to find joy

No they are not, we over protect and focus more on academic education and political correctness instead of allowing them to discover danger and unfairness for themselves
