There are some impressive new Kia Sportage Soul models being shown off at the Las Vegas Auto Show. Some of them include the Black Tiger Special Edition, the Eco-Soul concept vehicle, the Turbo trim, and the Harman Kardon sound system. Continue reading to learn more about these new Soul models.
Black Tiger Special Edition
The Kia Soul is a game changer for the company. The first vehicle to be launched under the brand's design-led transformation, it set off a new aggressive vehicle launch cycle that continues to this day. The Soul is also the first Kia to be certified as a hybrid, allowing it to run on both ethanol and gasoline.
The new Soul will feature a white paint job and tiger-themed graphics. The exterior will be accented with black fender vents and fog lamps. The car will be based on the Soul Plus (Plus) model and stand on white 18-inch alloy wheels with low-resistance tires. Inside, it will feature black leather seats, a push-button start, and sport-styled floor mats.
Eco-Soul concept vehicle
The Kia Soul has a range of environmentally friendly technologies. It uses bio-based organic materials in more than 22% of its parts. It also uses antibacterial materials in its interior trim, instrument panel and gear shift. Other standard features include a rear-view camera, Bluetooth, power windows, power driver's seat and a 6.6 kW onboard charger.
The Kia Soul EV is the company's greenest production model to date. It is styled like a retro ice-cream dispenser and rides on a custom aero-designed trailer. It is expected to garner plenty of attention from auto enthusiasts at the show.
Turbo trim
The new Kia Soul Turbo trim is a top-end version of the popular front-drive compact. It features a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It builds on the EX trim with an aggressive, GT-Line exterior look, 18-inch alloy wheels, chrome-tipped exhaust pipes, and LED lighting for the headlights and taillights. It also features sport-tuned suspension.
The Soul Turbo trim is the most expensive version of the car, with an MSRP of $38,400. It features an optional turbocharged engine, and a range of standard features. As of 2022, the Soul will no longer be offered with a manual transmission. This is unfortunate for Kia owners, since very few people know what a stick shift feels like! Fortunately, the Soul will still be available with six trim levels, including the Turbo. However, unlike the Soul's previous versions, the base LX trim offers only factory upgrades, so buyers are not left with many options.
Harman Kardon sound system
With the Harman Kardon sound system, Kia Souls offer a high-tech and stylish interior. Besides a 10-speaker audio system, it also includes SiriusXM(r) satellite radio, two front USB charging ports, wireless phone charger and more. The interior also features flexible seating and storage options. A 60/40 split rear seat and a large tailgate allow plenty of cargo space.
The Soul EV's sound system includes two forward-facing tweeters, but the default configuration makes highs a bit too overzealous. However, the tweeters also help cancel out tyre and cabin noise. The Harman Kardon sound system is also easy to operate, with volume knobs arranged on the touchscreen.
30 mpg highway rating
Fuel economy is an important feature to consider when shopping for a car, and the Kia Soul has one of the best ratings in its class. It averages 24 miles per gallon in the city and 30 miles per gallon on the highway. Its combined fuel efficiency is also better than most compact cars.
The Kia Soul is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that can produce 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. It also features an automatic transmission and a maximum fuel tank capacity of 14.3 gallons. It uses regular unleaded fuel.
Standard safety features
The Kia Soul has a long list of safety features, including enhanced dual front airbags, front seat-mounted side airbags, and full-length rim airbags. It also has three-point seat belts for all seating positions. It also features a rear-cross-traffic collision prevention system. This system checks for impediments when backing up and provides braking assistance if needed.
The new 2023 Kia Soul will come in base LX and GT-Line trim levels. The Turbo and X-Line trim levels will be discontinued. The new Soul comes with new standard safety features, a new front fascia, and redesigned taillights. The 2023 Soul will also have new exterior paint schemes and 17 and 18-inch alloy wheels.
