Challenges & Pitfalls

What, if anything, can a person do to avoid performing poorly when the stakes are high? Why do we choke in pressure situations?

0/240

Do your research and educate yourself so you can speak or perform with confidence. Pressure situations can raise a persons anxiety and lack of confidence. Be aware of your triggers.

Some people do well when pressure is on the line- others not so much. I think we learn from our experiences and hopefully learn enough to improve daily. As they say we must trip and fall before we walk

I think some people have the ability to use stress positively in the moment of high stakes, while others are unable to use it to their advantage, and it becomes negative

I agree some people choke in pressure situations. Others actually rise to the top when the stakes are high. Its all about our make up and life experiences that we have created.

At the end of day, if its meant to be , its meant to be. It is what it is! You can only prepare the best you can, sometimes through experiences and live and learn from those experiences. "Failures' make you stronger for the next challenge.

We spend too much time worrying about what could happen. Instead we should learn to visualize the situation unfolding exactly how we want and then watch it happen in real life!

Look in the mirror - Hold your hands up in a powerful way for 3 full minutes, like you would if just won an olympic medal, before doing what you need to do when the stakes are high. "Power Posing" makes you more confident!

1. Relax.... once you begin the task or test your brain doesn't need any competition for your focus. 2. Confidence is also a big factor in success. Youve got this! 3. Be prepared, as much as you can be typically up to the night before

Preparation and self confidence. I always go with the adage, whats the worst that could happen and immediately relax.

We stress too much worrying about outcomes. Live in the now. This very moment. What will be will be.
