NEW YORK – Commercial Window Shield has been retained by the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at City University of New York [CUNY] for a security window film installation project.
The project involves the installation of 15-mil security film with a four-sided wet glaze attachment system on 175 windows and doors in space leased by CUNY at W. 40th St. The security window film installation will be on all vulnerable windows and doors where CUNY has offices, classrooms and other space in the 20-story building.
Commercial Window Shield installer will begin their work at CUNY during the school’s spring break.
The project comes at a time when violent attacks are on the uptick in the U.S., with schools being particularly vulnerable. On Feb. 13 three students were killed and five others were wounded in shootings at two buildings at Michigan state University.
As a result, schools districts and colleges are acting to protect their buildings from potential violent intruders with the installation of safety and security window film. Including this project, Commercial Window Shield has protected the glass in more than 335 school buildings in 11 states.
Elsewhere, the company has completed safety and security film projects at Geneva, Minooka and Lake Zurich school districts in suburban Chicago; Calvert and Carroll County [Md.] Public Schools; Mechanicsburg and Bath Local Schools, near Lima, Ohio; Bellmore and Hewlett-Woodmere Public Schools, N.Y.; Hartford, Glastonbury and Simsbury school districts in Connecticut; Norfolk and Henry County in Virginia; Beaverton, Ore.; Lansdale, Pa., Katy and Rockwell schools districts in Texas and Comanche [Okla.] Public Schools.
With more than 35 years of experience, Commercial Window Shield is one of the nation’s leading security and solar control window film installers, as well as privacy/decorative, switchable smart film, radio frequency [RF] and anti-bird strike window films. Among its many projects, the company has protected windows at the U.S. Capitol, FBI headquarters, Pentagon, all House of Representative buildings, O’Hare International Airport, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, the Willis Tower [former Sears Tower], Denver Mint, Grand Central Terminal and the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston.
